Student in UK -> EEA Family Permit HELP!

Dear all,

I am currently studying at a UK University with a student visa. Now my mother, a French national, is planning on moving to the UK and I was wondering if I could switch to the EEA Family Permit despite the fact that I already am in the UK as a student.

Another issue is that I am 25 and have a scholarship to fund my studies and maintenance. Does this make me financially independent? My scholarship will end shortly but my course will still continue, so that my parents will start paying for my maintenance and university fees again. So should I wait until my scholarship ends before applying? In case it matters, I am still registered as living in my parents' household in France.
