student loan

Post by omeo_21 » Wed Jan 20, 2010 8:04 pm

Hi i was studying from 2004-2007 and i had a student loan and i have not paid it back yet. i started work mid 2007 till early 2009 but i was earning less than 15 thousand a year so i didnt have to make repayments. also i didnt restart work again till october 2009 and im still earning less than 15 thousand so im still not required to make any payments until i earn over 15000 pounds per year

i applied for a fiance visa and i wanted to know if this student loan would cause me a problem in my application??

thanks in advance

No it wouldn't if you're not making repayments.
I tell it like it is.

Yeah but I'm not a brit and I still get a student loan. But of course the conditions of my loan are not such that if I couldn't make over £15,000/year that I wouldn't have to make repayments. That would be pretty awesome. The american companies are not so kind ;)

You're British anyways aren't you omeo?

Not really convinced, have a look at this
Student finance: personal eligibility wrote:Residence

To qualify for student finance as a student from England, you will need to meet all of the residence requirements. Generally, on the first day of the academic year in which your course starts, you must:

* be a UK national or have 'settled status' in the UK (under the terms of the Immigration Act 1971)
* be ‘ordinarily resident’ in England
* have been 'ordinarily resident' in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man for the three years immediately before starting the course - and not wholly or mainly for the purpose of receiving full-time education

Right, I didn't say that I am getting financed by student loans from England. My financing comes from the us. I was just sharing my experience.

The point is that the OP is British and has an english student loan.
I tell it like it is.
