Student to spouse

Post by saminkhan » Sun Dec 06, 2009 11:44 pm

Can someone guide me on the procedure to switch from student to spouse visa? I have some idea about the process but not confident about my understanding.

I know that a student can apply for a COA which is just asking for permission and there are no financial or accomodation related conditions. If someone is on 2 years student visa and has spent six months of that visa, is there any reason the COA is rejected? Is there anything important to remember?

Secondly, can someone apply for swithing into spouse visa soon after getting the COA and getting married? Can this switching be in country?

And finally, does the same accomodation and maintenance rules apply for this switching visa as an out country settlement.

Any comments/ information will be higly appreciated.

Thanks

Immediately after marriage, switching is possible.

They may consider maintenance and accommodation (285) provisions. Perhaps also proof of study, etc.

No your COA would not be rejected based on the fact that you have spent 6 months on your visa. Just send in the documents asked for on the form and you'll be fine.
I tell it like it is.
