STUDENT VISA AND EC

i will really appreciate if someone in this forum help me about this . actually i am living in uk for about 7 and a half year and my current status is student. i had applied for hsmp and hope i will get positve reply. my question is does any body know if you go for EC back to your home country then again you have to stay 5 years before you get indefinete stay and what about if your visa stamped here for the hsmp. i am asking this as if u live here for 10 years on student you can apply for indefinet. thanks
