Have entered on a Student visa for a Masters course in OCT'09, we plan to get married in the coming months for which i will have to travel back to india.
A couple of questions for the same was going through the website and needed clarity about a few things

1) How does one go about establishing presence of studying in UK ?
2) After the above is clear then how much amount will my husband (Dependent) need to show in order to support himself ?
3) Once we get married when back in india, what is the procedure regarding my passport (will i have to update my passport i.e. my Maiden Family Name to my Husbands Family name) as my passport has the UK Visa.
4) Is there a time limit for my husband to enter UK on a Dependant visa or can he travel with me back to UK (after all his formalities for the same are fulfilled)

Thanks for your response in advance

First of all Advance happy married life.

here are the answers to ur questions as far as i know.

1.University Letter stating that your studing
2.There is no limit to show the amount but i suggest decent figure will be 6 to 7 lakhs. Here you need to show that accomdation is ready for him , like tenancy agreement.
3.Its not mandatory to change ur surname on passport however marriage certificate will be mandatory .
4. He can travel with you back to UK provding he gets the visa.

you need to furnish ur bank statements as well stating that u have funds to support urself and ur future husband. Decent amount will be between 1500pounds for last three months.

Let me know if you need any more help.

all the best.

Hi,
i am pakistani national and came in UK on dependent visa in Oct, 2008. when i was there in Pakistan and i applied for student visa, at that time i was not married and when i got my visa i married then and came in UK.
on coming here, i maintained a bank statement here for just 20-25 days showing about £6000. my wife over their in Pakistan changed her national identity card with my name as husband and made her new passport with my name as well.
from here i sent
1- university registration letter original showing the details of course studying, course start and end dates etc.
2- my passport (main page and visa page) coloured photocopies attested from solicitor (u can easily find any solicitor in the town, will charge u £5).
3- original bank statement with bank letter showing my closing balance.
4- original tenancy agreement
5- original letter from the council (called accommodation suitability letter).
6- original utility bills (Gas/BT/Electricity)
7- and i typed one letter addressing to the visa officer that give visa to my wife and telling that im here as student and i have arranged everything for her accommodation and living

from Pakistan she needed to attach
1- marriage certificate original
2 sponsor's bank statement original
3- some photographs of marriage
4- passport
5- fee slip

i think if u miss any of the above things, u will be rejected straight away.
because i know many guys who didn't bothered for tenancy agreement or council letter or utility bills and got rejected.

u are student here and u are actually dependent on someone else when u came in here UK for study,,,,,, so directly u can't sponsor ur spouse (he/she will have to arrange a sponsor from ur country who will sponsor during his stay here) and u just need to show some money in ur account as well that u are already living here well and having no problem.

i think this will help u.

best of luck
