student visa extension query........

hi all
i'm about to extend my visa from within UK as i've just finished my one year course. i want to know how much maintainance fund should i maintain in my account and for how long??....i've heard about this new rule which stated that we dont need to show 2-3 months bank statement rather we can show the fund in one's account right at the time of the applying, if we apply before 1 oct 2009....and if we apply after 1 oct 2009 then we need to show maintainance fund for only 28 days.......is this rule really true????? i would be thankful if any1 can link me with the thread to the page with this rule in UKBA website......

Yes everything is correct with one addition.Til 1 OCT you don't need money into your account for 28 days.

thnkx guys for such prompt response.....i still have one more query to clear out.....how much money should i have in my account on the day i apply??????.........i'm planning to pay out my first installment of the course and after that how much should i hold in my account?......

Tier4 rules are very clear regarding student visa extension.

Maintenance

£1600pounds+1 YEAR course fee(if course is >9 months) or
£1600pounds+complete fee(If course is less then 12 months)

This is for inner London college.

For college outside London

£1200+1 year fee
£1200+full fee for course less then 9 months
