Student Visa Germany Schengen

I am from India & have been selected for an internship at a German university. The internship is for 6 weeks & the university is providing accommodation for those 6 weeks. I want to stay for another 2 weeks in france after the internship as a tourist. Is there a different procedure for this or I can do this simply by applying for a student visa & providing a proof of my residence for those 2 weeks?
