Student Visa to US

Hello,

Is F1 a student visa? Under what visa can a student visa holder in the US bring his spouse? Can a spouse of a US student visa holder legally work in the US?

Yes, F-1 is student visa.
To bring dependents you bring them on F-2 visa.
F-2 visa holder can not work in the US under any circumstances.
