Student Visa what do I do to have son come with me

Hello everybody

I am reading many of the entries on here and your advice is amazing.

I have been offered a place at a British University in January next year. I have a 12 year old son, the University told me they are think he can come with me for the whole course (12 months).

What do I need to do?

Tier 4 dependent visa is granted to spouse and children if the course is for 9 months or longer.

But it will get messy from there as he needs to go to school in the UK and I am sure he is entitled to free school. You will probably end up paying and fighting for him to be admitted.

Why do you say this? Students' children can go to a state school. There is no need for payment or fighting.

Because being there already. Schools thrown us to the council and the council back to schools. We spent weeks chasing, getting appointments in various administrations... and we ended up paying 12K a year in a private school.

I hope he will get a better experience as he is entitled to free education but in practice, many schools are not keen to integrate foreign students in the middle of the year.
