Subject Access Requests - can you share your experience?

Post by zircon » Fri May 25, 2007 5:01 pm

Hi there,

I want to make a request to the Subject Access Bureau (SAB) for the data on my file in the home office. Any one had applied for this? Can you please share your experience? I want to know what information you will be received....

You are entitled to see all the information they hold on you. Basically, everything you wish to see about yourself:
- Paper file, records, minutes
- Computer records (CID, Warehouse), each page
- NASS records if applicable
- Landing cards
- Immigration Officers reports if applicable

You write a specific enquiry what of the above you wish to be disclosed to you.

On what basis are you applying for ILR? I find the landing cards quite useful as they will show when exaclty someone who is a not a British or EEA national entered the UK. IT will not show, however, when you left the UK. You don't need any form, but you need to sign the letter and this has to be an original letter as they will subject it to signature verification. The address is Data Protection Unit, Lunar House, 40 Wellesley Road, Croydon, CR9 2 BY.
