Submitting additional documents well after deadline

Post by zemblafeu » Thu Sep 04, 2008 7:31 pm

Help! I sent in exceptional circumstance documents when I did not qualify. I was in a hurry doing the application and regarded "exceptional circumstances" far too casually. I just found out the true meaning of "exceptional circumstances" (war; natural disasters) and feel like an idiot. I wrote the Home Office about getting a reference number, since they had charged my card, and found that my application had not yet been processed.

Sum of ridiculous activity:

- I left my birth certificate on a photocopying machine and can no longer find it. I was making this application at the last second - having just found out that HSMP was expiring - and left a few important papers. So I sent in a notarized copy of my passport. I also don't have a driving license, and never have had one. (Claiming 20 points for age; I'm 26)

- My diploma was in storage - from undergraduate; I submitted my UK master's diploma - and the school said it would take 8 to 10 weeks to make a new one, so I submitted a very official-looking letter and a transcript. (English language requirement, though I was born and raised in the US)

- I stupidly thought that by "tax return" they meant a US 1040 and not a US W2. (Because that's what we call tax returns here, and I didn't know about the difference in the UK.) (15 points for salary)

However, I have all of the documents now! Do you think I can send them, although the deadline has passed (and though I sent the rest of the docs two months ago)? I've been feeling really sick over this...
