Successful Long term visit visa - past history of travel ?

Post by shomoo » Sun Dec 20, 2015 10:44 pm

Hello
i have a specific question for the forum. I am planning to apply 5 or 10 year visit visa for my mother. I would like to know from those who have successfully applied for same what has been history of their parents past travels?
- How many times they traveled before and what was the approximate length of each visit?
- Did anybody have success despite having prior visits which were close to 5-6 months limit?
I know in the forum advice has been to travel for less duration so as to avoid being interpreted as not 'genuine visitor'. Just checking if there is previous cases and what constitutes as reasonable period of stay as visitor.
Kind regards
S

There is no prescribed limit on how often she can stay, but you would want to prove that she is visiting you and not residing with you. Staying with you repeatedly for 5-6 months at a time looks suspiciously like she is trying to live in the UK under the guise of a visit visa and thus frustrating the Immigration Rules.

Also, even if she gets a 5-10 year long term visa, the maximum period that she can stay in the UK at one go still remains 6 months. And if the Immigration Officer at the airport thinks that she is abusing the visit visa by staying in the UK in the guise of a visit visa, he can cancel the visa on the spot and send her back on the next return flight.

Remember that she could get banned for life if the conduct continues. And remember that there is no appeal for denial of a visit visa.
