No Surname on Passport

I am due to apply for my mother's Family Visit Visa. She does not have surname on her passport. will it affect the visa application?

Surname is a mandatory field in the application, what can I write there in order to validate my application? please suggest.

P.S. - she is from India

Maybe a silly question, but does she actually have a surname?
