Switching from fresh talent visa to HSMP spouse visa

Post by Visaquery » Mon Mar 05, 2007 3:32 pm

Hi,
Iam a resident from India. I came to UK on student visa and finished my masters in scotland and got visa on fresh talent scheme, where i can work only in scotland but can reside anywhere in UK. I got married recently to a dr working in england who is on HSMP visa. We came back a couple of days ago. Iam in UK rt now. Now i would wish to change from my current fresh talent visa to HSMP dependant visa. I would like to know if i can apply from UK or is it mandatory i should go back to my own country to get in done??? I would also like to know if marriage certifcate is sufficient to prove that v r married or is it that the name of my spouse must be mentioned in my passport???? I shall be very much obliged if anyone can help me with this query...Thanks in advance.

Not 100% sure but I don't think you need to travel back to your country to apply for a "HSMP dependent" visa. I think you can do it within UK using the FLR(O) form.

No, you don't necessarily need to have your spouse's name in your passport or vice versa. In addition to the marriage certificate, some marriage photographs or joint bank account statements or joint tenancy agreement or joint mortagage etc. will do the trick.
