Switching from PSW to Student Visa - Dependent

Post by feelsfeels » Mon Aug 26, 2024 10:41 pm

Hello all,

Just looking for advice whilst planning on the next step forward.

We are currently on the PSW visa, and looking to start planning for the future. If we both do not get sponsorship before the 2 years PSW finishes,

Can my Partner switch to a Student Visa from a PSW visa?
Can I switch to be a dependant under my partner?

I know the rule says people who are applying for student visa, can no longer bring in dependents. Does this apply to those already in the UK as well?

Thank you for your input

It's on the main gov.uk page. There is a short list of people who cannot switch to a Student visa. Everyone else can.

Yes. It is now restricted to (1) government sponsored students, (2) those doing a research degree, and (3) and some people with a current Student visa (not a Graduate visa) whose dependants are currently Student dependants (not Graduate dependants).
