Switching From A Student Visa To A PSW. Is It Advisable?

Post by flobiz » Thu Sep 22, 2011 1:11 pm

Hello People

I currently have a student visa which started july 2011 will end by april 2013 for my masters degree program, but the PSW is ending in april 2012.

I already have a bachelors degree which i did through distance learning from my country, it was awarded to me june this year, you might be wondering how i got enrolled for a masters programme so soon.

I actually have some professional qualifications and thats what i used to apply for my masters, so i didn't wait for the bachelors. So now i am afraid i wont be able to apply for a PSW because it is ending april 2012

So i wrote to my school to ask if i was eligible for a PSW now with my degree, they said yes that my degree is the same as that of anyone who actually schooled here, so truely my certificate doesnt say anything about distance learning. SO they said its all points based and that if i meet the requirements i am eligible. And i did the points thing and i stand a chance.

So my question now is do i apply now and switch to PSW before april 2011, is it advisable to do so, if i apply will there be a problem since i am here studying for a masters on student visa now.
