Switching from Tier 4 to Tier 2

Post by audreyd » Thu Aug 13, 2015 8:54 pm

Hi there,

I've recently been offered a job in the NHS, who have agreed to sponsor me for my Tier 2 visa. Yesterday the HR department said that they would begin the process of creating my certificate of sponsorship, but she was unfamiliar with the process (despite being an approved sponsor) and that it might take awhile.

I also have to have a police (DBS) check for my position which takes about 5-6 weeks. I was thinking about going home for a few weeks during this time. My question is:

-Once the application is submitted from within the UK, would it be alright to leave the UK for a holiday, or is it unrealistic? Do I need to be in the UK during this process?

Thanks for any help!

Very nice question. How can you cross the border without your passport which is in hand of the Home Office?

Thanks, fx; this is why I was asking. Because I haven't completed my application yet, I wasn't aware that I had to hand in my passport.
