Switching PSW Visa to UK Tier 4( Student) Dependent

Hi mates, I came to UK in 2009 as a student. After completion of my course got PSW visa, it's is going to expires on Jan 17th 2014. In this mean time my wife came as a dependent. October 11th 2013 my wife went to INDIA applying for student VISA. Today (11.01.14) she got VISA ....her return flight on 24th Jan 2014. I tried to change the flight date, unfortunately we don't have any seats before 17th. But my VISA expires on 17.01.14. So is it possible to apply student dependent VISA before my wife coming to UK. Guys could you please give your suggestions regarding my query. Thanks.

Are you allowed to switch?

Thank you for your reply. Yess mate, I allowed to switching from PSW to student dependent. I spoke to UKBA regarding this. She is coming 7 days after my visa expired date. But my query is if I wanna switch... presence of wife in UK is necessary or not?? thanks
