Hello,
I hold a sponsored Tier 2 General Work visa since October 2013. If I stay on this visa, I know that I can apply for indefinite leave to remain (ILR) in October 2018 (in 5 years' time).
I am getting married with my British fiancee next month and may switch to a Marriage Visa, which would allow me to live and work in the UK for 2,5 years - without being attached to a single company.
My question is: by switching from a Tier to Marraige visa, does the 5-year count-down for ILR start from the begginning? In other words, will my 1 year on Tier 2 have gone to waste if I switch to a marraige visa now?
I looked for information on visa.gov.uk, but no luck. I would be grateful if someone can also provide a link if it exisst.
Thank
