talk to up with credit card payment -- Use a postal order!

Post by kimskater » Thu May 29, 2008 7:25 pm

Has anyone had this happen?

HSMP returned my application without processing payment because of "wrong 'valid from' date" on my credit card. In the USA, there are no "valid from" dates on our credit cards, so I put the date I thought I'd received my card, thinking it was just the expiration date that would matter. Apparently that was a big mistake and they returned everything without processing. ---They told me it could take up to 12 weeks to return my documents. Panic!!

I frantically spent the next week of my life trying to track down, order new originals, etc, to re-apply before June 1st. (my self-imposed deadline was June 1 because I was claiming wages from the past 15 months). It seemed like the worst week I've had in ages and I spent hundreds of dollars replacing all my documents. BUT....I'm proud to say I turned in my new application on May 27th, one week later (must be some kind of record) so we'll see what happens.

Needless to say, I got a postal order this time, so we'll see if this works out! I also put down a new credit card number just in case the postal order didn't work out for some insane reason. We'll see!

Just wanted to warn everyone that you need to make sure you put the right "valid from" date down on your payment details. But a better idea is to just get a postal order. As far as the postal orders, I live in a very rural area, so I had to call around to a lot of different banks to see which one could process a postal order, but I finally found one.

Good luck everyone.

:D :D
I agree !! Knowing BIA and how they work, they might charge you twice ... once through postal order and then through your credit card  !!. Or they might just return your application saying they couldn't decide how to charge you for the application since you didn't make it crystal clear to them

Just kidding

Yeah, I could totally see that happening....I hope they wouldn't be that clueless though, but from what I've seen so far, I'll believe anything!
Thanks!

Get this....just checked my mailbox and I've already received my originally submitted application back in the mail. It's only been 1 week and the guy told me it could be up to 12 weeks. I should've just waited until I got everything back, but I was panicking and didn't know how long it would take and I needed things to be in order due to claiming earnings for specific dates.

The worst part of all......I really did put down the wrong date on my credit card details. I put down valid from 9/2008, rather than 9/2007. I almost died when I saw that....how could I have missed that? I spent so much time making sure everything was perfect and it came down to me missing some mundane detail.

Oh well....I hope the rest of the process goes more smoothly.

Fingers crossed.
