TAX

Post by Hesham » Tue Mar 16, 2010 8:06 am

Did any one manage to get Tax relief for the Immigration application fees. After all it is mandatory for work. I did write to them and they declined. I don't know if I can take it any further.

Under UK tax law there is no deduction available for items such as immigration fees. This is in the same way as there is no deduction for say tuition fees, which led to a qualification, which led to a job. But still, no deduction.

To be a valid deduction it has to be 'wholly and exclusively' for work, as you yourself are benefiting there's no way it passes the test.
