The 6 Document Rule

Post by Roziee » Mon May 02, 2011 5:27 pm

Hello,

I wonder if someone could kindly clarify something to me in regards to the 6 documents that we need to supply the Home Office when applying for the ILR (set M).

We do not have 6 documents in joint names, however we have more than enough documents in sole names to supply.

My question is, do these sole/joint letters have to span over the FULL TWO YEARS of the spouse visa without there being a month which a letter does not cover?

Secondly, since the majority of our letters are in sole names, do we need 6 documents each? And the documents we do provide under each name, do they have to be on the same date?

"If you do not have enough
items in your joint names, you may also provide items addressed to each of you individually if they show the same address
for both of you."

Could someone please clarify this as its driving me potty!

Thank you

Rozie

Look at it this way. If you needed to provide a document per month over the 2 years..the Home Office would ask for 24 documents...not 6.
The 6 pieces of evidence showing joint address need to be from at least 3 different categories (for example: utility bill, council tax, Telephone bill).
There shouldn't be any really large gaps....so spread as evenly as possible over the 2 years.
If you're submitting documents in single names then it's advisable to submit 12 rather than 6. No, the dates for each don't need to match.
