The work permission for an Asylum Seeker

Post by ielrashedy » Mon Jun 09, 2014 9:10 pm

Hello,

I came to the UK on 8th of June 2012 to study my master degree based on Tier 4 visa and the expiration date was 30-01-2014.
I couldn't go back to Egypt due the critical situation there. Therefore, I've applied for the asylum on 30-01-2014.
I’ve got Application Registration Card ARC and this sentence has written on it (Work Restricted-Student). Then the Home Office called me again and change this card to be (Forbidden from Taking Employment). In addition, I enquired about that new car and the reporting office asked me to send a work permission letter and the will deal with that within 3 weeks. Till now I haven’t got any answer.
I have new updated that the University of Portsmouth has offered me to work in a research project and they can issue a sponsorship certificate.
Please, I have some questions:
Based on my visa situation, I can work 20 hours/week and full time after I finish my course and I already finished it on 20-11-2013 so am I eligible to work full time?
What if the University of Portsmouth can sponsor me so can I change my status from asylum seeker to be based on any visa status?
Also, I asked the home office about my case owner information but they didn't response me. Is this the basic information should I receive regarding to contact my case owner for any update?

Thanks for your support.
