EC - do they issue post dated

Hi all,

I have got my hsmp approval, thanks to all the members and the seniors who have been helping me and many people answering their queries.


I am planning to apply for EC only by mid of Jan as I cannot travel before next March due to personal constraints.

I would like to know 2 things related to applying for EC:

1. Since I would be applying for EC after few months of HSMP letter (though it would be before the six month period they have mentioned), is there any chances of questions being raised because of this?

2. I have read that some people have requested for EC stamping to be done at a later date. Do they actually consider this? Can anyone having got such a post dated stamping, please post their experiences and if they sent any specific covering letter.

mine is also same case as you.
i mailed to ukvisas they replied that i should travel with in 3 months from visa start period and suggested me to appply in jan 2008 so that we can start in march end or april first week.

First of all there is no restriction on when you should travel as long as you travel within the VISA validity time frame.

Comming back to the question of post dated VISA start date, the British High Commision will consider a post date only if the post date falls in comming 3 months, meaning if i appply in november i can ask for a post date till feb but not march and that is the reason they asked you to file 3 months before you plan to fly.

Will this apply to peoplw who already have the HSMP approval letter. How was it last time when the rules changed.

Well i dont think the rules would affect the people who already have an HSMP approval. I have gone through the new forms and guidelines, basicaly i see 2 major changes
1> Questions related to UK security
2>Making the whole EC process easy for genuine skilled people.
So no need to worry as long as you are Mr Good

I am sorry guys, but I am confused now.

does this imply that when applying for EC in Jan 2008, we would have surprises waiting?

I read that there would be changes to HSMP in Jan 2008. Will it apply to people who already have approval.

Given the fact that we are Mr.Good and "genuinely skilled" ,
can anyone eloborate on the probable changes, else there would be a lot of re-thinking to be done about applying for EC later.

I got HSMP visa from October. Can I go to UK in Jan. I saw someone in this forum saying that we have to go to UK within 3 months of getting EC?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

when I did it they asked when did I want to make the EC valid from so they were willing to postdate but that was 5 years ago

Again , once you get the VISA you can travel any time as long as your visa is valid(before expiry)

Legally you can travel even on the last day of your expiry
