Is this Feasible? Mods help please!!!

As far as I can figure out if you have submitted an in country application & your visa is running out you send your passport in before the deadline & apply for FLR (or whatever it's called) & once the HSMP application is decided you get your passport back.

Anyway, I have an overseas trip booked which finishes 5 days before my 2 year working holiday visa runs out. Is it feasible to send off for the FLR thingy in that time frame. Or would it be too risky getting back through immigration. Or is there anything I can take with me to prove I have an application in process? Another option would be to just tell immigration I was leaving for good in the next few days & buy a cheap ticket out of the UK to show them as proof.

Does anyone have any ideas on the above?

Thanks....

Is the overseas trip a must?

It's paid for, but I guess I could just take the hit... I think I would at the least be able to get through customs with another ticket showing an onward flight.
