Tier 2 and Family Visit Visa sponsorship...

Post by ajek01 » Tue Apr 08, 2014 10:35 pm

Hi everybody,

I have a general question linked to my Tier 2 visa.

I am currently on Tier 2 (General) visa.
My sister would like to come to UK on Family visit visa for a month from Bangladesh. I am thinking of sponsoring her for her expenses while she is in UK.

Today I spoke to HR to provide me an employment letter which my sister can submit (as evidence that I can support he) for her Family visit visa. But my HR is not sure if  I can sponsor someone while on Tier 2! And they said that they would let me know if they can give me the doc after consulting with our company solicitor!

This made me a bit confused becz I thought my visa status should not be linked to the above scenario.

My questions are:

1) Is there any restriction for Tier 2 employees from sponsoring (financially) family on Family Visit visa?

2) Also I am applying for ILR in July, do you think that UKBA might have any issues if I sponsor somebody on visit visa?

I would greatly appreciate any thoughts..

Regards
Ajek

as you are not yet settled in the UK your sister should apply for a general visitor (not family visitor) visa. You can certainly support her application. For the documents she will need to submit see:

The main concern of the ECO will be her ties to Bangladesh that would make her return after the visit.

Thanks Manci, as usual you have been a savour.

I will get her to apply on general visitor visa.

Just to confirm with you, I will provide the following documents to support her application.

1) Scanned copy of my passport + Biometric card
2) Employment letter from my employer
3) payslip.
4) 1 month bank statement ( I know 6 months on family visit visa, but since my sister is on general visitor visa, 1 month sould be fine, as it is just an additional document?)

I would greatly appreciate if you could confirm the above and most importantly whether providing the above docs could any way affect my ILR ( long residency) in 4 months time?

Hi Ajek,

You should also include the following documents as well

1) Invitation Letter
2) Accommodation Arrangements for her (Rental Agreement)
3) Sponsorship Letter (If you are going to bear all her expenses during her stay in UK)
4) Letter of Consent from Landlord (Not mandatory but will be good if you can get)
5) Property Inspection Report form a solicitor confirming property details like no. of bedrooms, suitable for accommodation etc (This is not mandatory as well).
6) Any Recent Utility Bill

I would say to include 6 months bank statements if you are solely bearing all her expenses and if your sister is not including her 6 months bank statements (Well she should include her bank statements anyway).

I don't think so that inviting your sister as a visitor would affect your ILR application. I hope this will help?

Manci, please let us know if I have missed something? By the way Manci, I have been your silent fan for ages because of your ability to provide precise answers and helpful attitude towards everyone. Your posts helped me a lot in my visa extension as well.

Thanks,
Hassan
