Tier 2 and shareholder

I'm joining a new company and will apply for sponsorship and Tier 2 visa, I don't qualify for Tier 1.

I was told that I wouldn't be qualified for Tier 2 if I own more than 10% of the shares of my employing company. Is this true? I can't find such information.
