tier 2 applicant continue work when application is in proces

My wife is a work permit holder, now her employer extends it and she has to increase her visa as tier 2. Her current visa is finishing 19th May and she is thinking to apply by post. The application fee is a large amount i.e. by post 465 and in person 665 GBP. My question is, can she continue to work while the application is in process, or she has to stop working after 19th June until she gets the FLR and her passport back?

She can continue to work if she files her application to UKBA before 19th May. How did you arrive at the 19th June date ?
