Tier 4 dependant application. Established student

Post by kerdan » Mon Dec 23, 2013 7:47 pm

Hi all

My case is not that common and a little complicated. Both my partner and I have lived in the UK for the past 15 months under a Tier 4 Student visa. I am on a PhD program, so my visa finishes ca. 2017. On the other hand, my wifes' visa finishes next month (she was studying a masters degree). We plan to go back to our country and make the application from there ( a Tier 4 dependant visa for her) but a lot of questions have arisen and I hope you can help me.

1) For the money evidence, we need to show the money for both or only for the dependant?
In the guidelines it is noted if both make the application at the same time the main applicant has to show £1000 + £600 for each dependent for a maximum of two months if he or she (the main student) already has an established presence in the UK (London). Lets remember that in this case I am not making the application again, only her.
So, when she makes the application, she has to show £3200 (for both) or only £1200 (for her)?

2) I am sponsored by my home government. My sponsor letter only shows my name. I can use this as an evidence of money for her application?

3) How many hours she is going to be allowed to work? I am allowed to work 20 hours pw in term-time and full-time on holidays.

Cheers

First of all, you don't necessarily have to accompany your wife just for the sake of applying.

1) Reading from page 11 onwards of the above will help you understand your question.
2) NO!
3) No limit on work except working as a dentist in training.

Thanks for the link. Only one thing.

From reading points 78 and 79 on page 12 I understand that she only needs to show £600 x 2 months because I already have an established presence in London and also I already did my application long time ago, so I don't need to show money for my expenses again, I am right?

Sorry, there is no examples if the applications are made at different times.
