Tier 2 (Dependant) can join later?

Post by spa86 » Sun Oct 18, 2015 9:36 pm

Hi all,

My wife and I got our Tier 2 visas at the same time (me-> migrant, her -> dependant).
However, she will not be able to join me in the UK for a few months. During that time, she is planning to come and visit me regularly. After that, she will come and stay with me.
Do you think that it will be a problem that she will come and go during those few months?
Is there a time limit for her to join me in the UK after I register?

Thanks in advance...

There is no issue with the dependent coming to UK on regular basis as long as the main visa holder is in UK.

However, as per the latest rules, both need to travel to UK within 30 days of getting the visa and collect your BRP card within 10 days of reaching UK. Your dependent may have to travel along with you to collect the BRP card. If the dependent cannot travel within the 30 day period, you will need to apply for the dependent visa again. Once she has the BRP card, she can return back and visit as planned.

Hi moonlight55,

Thanks for the answer.
Our visas on the passport are valid for 5 years not for 30 days so do you think she will still need to get the BRP?

Thanks...

Only when she applies for leave to remain.

In that case, not required. As vinny said, its only required when you apply for leave to remain.
