Tier 2 dependent biometric residence permit question

Post by skedinger » Tue Jun 10, 2014 10:59 pm

Hi everyone. We just completed a Tier 2 visa extension. I am the applicant and my husband is my dependent for UK visa purposes.

His new BRP says "Restricted Work" on it, followed by "No Dr/Dentist Training". We are aware of the doctor/dentist in training work restriction, which was also typed on his Leave to Enter visa. However, his employer is saying that this statement is evidence that he now has additional work restrictions (and therefore can't be employed by them) because of the first line saying "Restricted Work" which was NOT on his original visa.

Has an error been made on his BRP, or do they all say this and is his employer just misinterpreting the statement? Thanks for your help!

It's the usual practice. All the dependant's BRP says this. Apart from Doc or dentist, he can work in any other field. Maybe the employer is not exactly aware of the rule.

You can find the condition of stay for dependants in the DEP Guidance: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... 4-14_2.pdf
