Tier 1 extension - Applying early

Post by satish.pand » Mon Feb 09, 2009 3:55 pm

Hi,

I would be applying for my Tier 1 extension 2 months before the leave is due to expire. Please let me know if I need to mention this in the cover letter that I am applying 2 months before the expiry date with some reason.

I have seen lot of debate in this forum about applying early and I dont want to take the risk of applying just 4-5 weeks in advance.

cheers
satish

What is you rreason for applying early? If you have a good enough reason, it shouldn't matter. Mind you. 2 months early is not THAT early, and if I were a caseworker, I'd not make an issue about it.

Unfortunately, I'm not a caseworker though...

Hi drjabberwocky23,
If you were a caseworker would you make an issue of the below senario:

I had submitted my HSMP to Tier 1 application in early Jan 09. It came back because of a wrong card number on the payment page. To have an in time application I reprinted the payment page with the correct card number and sent the same application off. Payment was deducted 2 days later.
However the first page of the application had a bar code and a date stamp put on it by HO. I did not change this page. Can this cause a problem or cause the application to be not valid since it had an old barcode and date stamp on it?. Is an application with extraneous marks (i.e barcode and date stamp) ok? Does anyone have experience with this?
Should I resend a new first page? I’m not sure if I am being silly about this but it is giving me a headache.
Thanks

Minimoo - I don't know the answer to your question, as I've personally not heard of that scenario before. If I were a caseworker, I'd probably take a sympathetic approach to such a situation, buit as I said earlier, I'm not a caseworker.

Have you tried contacting UKBA directly to see if they have any advice?

The reason for applying early is since even if I or case worker makes a mistake, it gives time to re apply or go for review. If I apply just 4 -5 weeks before and incase my application is rejected, i dont have any other option to leave this country.
