tier extension v/s passport expiry date.

Post by joy_kavee » Tue Jun 30, 2009 8:01 pm

hi

My tier 1 general visa expires on 2/2012 and my passport expires on 6/2012.

Can i apply my extension first and the change my passport?

Or do i need to have a valid new passport for the whole duration of my new 'extension' visa?

What is the official home office requirement please?

Also ,if i need to change my passport first , then how will the first tier1 general visa appear on the new passport? Will our embassy in uk be able to get the visa on the new passport?

Thanks** confused**

Better renew your passport before applying for extension. You can then get your extension stamped on your new passport and you will not have to carry old+new passport everywhere.
Else once the old passport expire, if you want to transfer your visa/stamp on new passport you will have to addition over £100 for the same.

I do not think you need to do that.

My passport expires 02/2010 and I have just extended my HSMP to Tier1 General in June and the visa has been approved till 03/2013 which is even 3 years more than my passport expiry.

I think your embassy will only sign and stamp your passport for renewal provided the visa pages in the passport has not been filled up.

I stand corrected on this :)
