Tier 2 extension visa salary criteria

Hi,

I will be extending my visa by next year. The salary criteria for extension visa is 31,300 for 39 hours. Is it a must that I need to get that salary for my extension visa as my employer may not be able to offer such high salary.

Is there an option of reducing the working hours so that I can show my salary range to 29,000 and will I be eligible for obtaining the extension visa ?
