Tier 4 extensions though visa will not expire

I want to apply Tier 4 extension on a new course (which will be finish till Sep 2012) and college in Sep 2010. But I already have visa till Sep 2011. Is it possible to apply extension even if you already have visa? Actually I want the full length of visa till the end of my course. My last extension given to me was before 5 Oct 2009.
