Tier 1 Extn Processing time

Post by srreddy » Fri May 06, 2011 11:02 pm

Hiya,
I have applied for Tier1 visa extension for myself and my wife as dependent on 14th March and done a payment by Cheque.

Payment cleared on 18th March. Given the Biometric enrollment on 12th April.

I urgently need to travel outside UK on 18th May for my father surgery I am more worried that still I didn't receive the passport.

Could you please advice how long will it take to get the passport ?

Any thing I could do to enquire the status of my application ?

Your response in this is very much helpful.

Regards & Thanks,
Reddy

Hello Srreddy,

Unfortunately, you cannot get to know the status of your application for 14 weeks from the date of your postage. There are only two options for you

1. You can request for withdrawal of your application. It takes around 10 Working days and 15 working days as a worst case for getting the passport back. Remember in this case it means your visa will not processed.

2. You need to wait for getting the passport back. What I can see is most of the applications would be decided by next week for those applied by on or befor 19th april. (from UKBA website). PLEASE DO NOTE THAT THIS IS MY SIMPLE OPINION BASED ON MY ANALYSIS. This doesnt guarantee as I see applications waiting for around 3 months for decision to be made.

I am in the same situation like you and I need my passport by 4th week of May and had my biometrics 26th April. Unsure of my fate :(

No one but the caseworker assigned to your application can answer this question.

Unfortunately, with only about 7 weeks since submission there is nothing you can do to know the status.

This said, if your travel is absolutely essential then you may wish to seek help from your local MP in an effort to expedite the process though with 18-May just 2 weeks away it is unlikely if an MP's intervention will be of any use. But, no harm in trying.

Thanks for providing the option of contacting he local MP moderator. I had googled to see how to do this but as usual gives me numerous results but of little use

If you are aware can you let us know how can we contact the MPs to expedite the process.

Thanks everybody for your precious time. To update you guys I received my Biometric residence permit today however not my passport.
I think I can be sure that my application has got approved after receiving the biometric permit.

Thanks again.
