Tier 2 General applicant called for Personal Interview

Post by debim19 » Wed Mar 04, 2015 10:47 am

Hi,
My wife has applied for a Tier 2 General visa from India. She earlier was in UK on a Tier 2 dependant visa.
Her visa got rejected once as her company had given an incorrect salary in CoS. Her company recognized the mistake and ´has now rectified the salary in CoS. After 2 weeks of application she got a call from British Consulate Delhi to come for a personal interview. I am a bit curious to know, why would they call for an interview. If there is a problem with the application they can reject it. I havent heard of any one going for an interview in Tier 2 General applications.
Any idea for possible reasons?

Looks like they want to know if the job offer is genuine and details about the sponsor. They might ask how you knew about the job opening? How was the interview process etc?
If the sponsor is a small consultancy and have not sponsored many tier 2's and if the salary is less than 30k they generally do these checks. The UKBA would also visit the sponsor now for checks and then come up with the decision on the visa application.
Please note that what I have said is based on what I have heard /seen happen to my colleagues and friends.

Hi Debin
could you let us know what was the outcome of the interview process? and how long did it take after the interview to get the passport (if it did come through)
My wife is in exactly the same state - ie. she is presently my dependent (Tier2 ICT dependent) applying for a tier-2 general visa (in process; documents submitted on 29-Sep) and has now been scheduled for a telephonic interview on 16-Oct!

regards
Admishra

Can you please confirm what was the outcome of your application, how long they took to take a decision after the interview, were there any other checks initiated ?
