Tier 1 General Processing Times (Canada and USA)

Just looking for North American processing times. I'm in Canada and my timing so far is:

Biometrics appointment: September 8th
Application couriered to British High Comission: September 8th
Email with ref # received: September 10th

Still waiting to hear back. Apparently it's supposed to take 5 working days, but so far haven't heard anything after that initial email. When I called to get more info they said this is the most busy time of year for these applications.
