Tier 2 General Salary for job code 2136

Post by Abhi22 » Fri Aug 08, 2014 4:46 pm

I have been offered job with salary of £24,000 for as software engineer under SOC 2136. But the list shows salary for this code is for New entrant: £22,800 and Experienced worker:£29,600. I am applying from outside and have experience for 3 years. I am confused if this salary is correct. Salary mentioned on SOC list is based on 37.5 hrs or 40 hrs?

Many thanks.

Hi Abhi,

For an experienced applicant for Job Code 2136 the salary is £29,600.
The salary mentioned on https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... 4_V0_6.pdf is based 39 hours a week (check pg. no 4)

Please ask your employer to change the salary to minimum £29,600 or else your Visa will be refused. I am sure about this as I have got a refusal because of this reason.

Best of Luck.

If you are under 26 you can be paid at the new entrant rate.

Also, FYI whether your salary meets the appropriate rate will depend on the weekly hours that are in your contract. For example, if your contract says 30 hours then it meets the minimum appropriate rate.

BTW technically, until Appendix A of the Immigration Rules is amended, the Home Office have to accept arguments by sponsors that rates based on the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings 2013 are for a 40 hour week, not a 39 hour week. Unintended, but them's the rules.

Good luck!
