Tier 2 general - Shortage vs Standard occupation list

Post by gopinm » Wed Dec 11, 2013 2:09 pm

Hi,

I am currently appying for Tier 2 General moving from PSW visa. I am bit confused with the Shortage occupational list and Standard occupation list. SOC code is mentioned in the standard occupation list (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... orkers.pdf) but not in the shortage occupation list (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/busin ... ationlist/).

Is this a problem, please advise.

Thanks in Advance

Only if the NQF level of the job is below level 6. Shortage Occs don't need to be advertised but your visa makes you exempt from this anyway.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, my job is at NQF Level 6. So which means, it doesn't matter if my job is not on the current Shortage occupation list. Am I right?

Thanks again.
