Hi,
I am applying for Tier 1 General (Initial) visa (In Country) next month. My current PSW leave expires 10/Feb/2010.
My query is regarding the overdraft facility in my Salary account. I have two bank accounts.
My Salary account is held with Lloyds where my salary gets credited every month. I have a planned overdraft of £3000 in my salary account which i keep utilising it and as a result of it my salary account has negative balance.
Now, I have a different bank account with HBOS where I have kept the maintainance fund (£1600) for me and my wife. It has been mainatained from last 03 months and the balance has never come down.
I want to know if my negative balance which is in my Salary account and which is because i use the overdraft facility in my salary account, is going to be a problem for my Tier 1 General visa application.
I will be submitting my Lloyds bank account statement to show the salary credits and I will send my HBOS statement showing the maintainance funds.
Will the caseworker link both the statements and calculate the maintainance funds or will he just look at my salary account statement to check my salary credits and will check my HBOS account statement to see my maintainance funds?
Please advise
Sanjeev

You should be fine. Clearly indicate in your cover letter (and also on the statements, using post-its) which account you want them to consider for maintenance funds.

Home Office require you to have access to certain amount of money called as maintenance fund. Overdraft, Loans etc are immaterial while considering maintenance. e.g. You can have a loan of 10000 pounds and keep £800 in your current account as maintenance money.

Shouldn't be an issue. Just mention which bank account you're providing for your maintenance funds.
Goodluck.
