Tier 2 General Visa- Switching Sponsors

Hi All,

Iam currently in the process of applying for a Tier 2 General Visa- change in sponsorship as Iam changing employment. I wanted to understand how to go about the notice period at the current employers.

Should I wait for the visa to be granted and then hand in the notice period?

Can I continue to work for them once my visa with the new sponsor has been granted? So basically get the visa and then hand in the notice so there's no risk of losing the current job if the visa application is rejected.

I would appreciate any inputs you can provide to make this an easy process for me.

I would wait for the visa to be granted and then give notice - that way if anything goes wrong, then you've still got some sort of employment until it can be sorted. Depending on your employer, you may be put automatically on garden leave when you hand in your notice or, you will work all or some of your notice period before the new job begins.

You can continue to work for your current employer until the start date on the CoS for your new employer (provided your new visa is granted).
