Tier 2 to ILR

Post by rk_2011 » Tue Feb 18, 2014 5:28 pm

Dear all,

I qualify for ILR in Jan 2015 on 5 years continuous tier-2 employment. However, I need a tier-2 extension on Sept. 2014 that takes me through to Jan 2015. I work on a PhD-level job that has a fixed term contract due to the way government/science funding works. If I am given a 6 months contract extension in Sept. 2014 to last till March 2015, I have two questions:

1. Can I apply for a 6-month tier-2 extension? Are extensions less than a year permitted?
2. When I apply for ILR in Jan 2015, my employer needs to state that I am still employed, but only for three more months. Can that be a problem?
