I'm feeling a bit bamboozled and wondered if anyone can give me some clarity and help...
I am an Australian here on a tier 5. I live with my partner, he is British. We have been a couple since 2008.
Because I came to the UK 1 month after my tier 5 started, we can't prove we've been living together for 2 whole years.
My Visa expires on 2nd November(!!!). We were planning to marry so that I would have no problems switching to the FLRM but he was previously married many years ago and never finalised his divorce. His divorce is currently being processed but I fear it will now not be back in time for us to register and marry before the end of my visa.
Because A. we aren't married yet and B. we can't prove we've been living together for 24months, do i have a chance at getting my FLRM? Even thought we are only 1 month short of the 24 months?
Has anyone been through this?
If we are registered to marry and we have a booking for a ceremony, does that count for anything at all?
Is it black and white, will they just say, the rule says 24 months??
I have booked a premium appointment at Croyden so we can get it done on the spot, but the only appointment I could get was on the day that my visa expires! I don't know what will happen if we get rejected there and then.
Is there some sort of bridging/fiancee etc visa I could get until we can actually marry?
Do we have any other options? Would it count if we were married overseas, avoiding the 15 day wait for marriage?
If anyone can suggest anything or share experience it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
