Tier 4 PBS Student Dependent Visa - Hong Kong

Post by Zidoas » Fri Jul 22, 2011 3:51 pm

Hi,

I will be applying for a Tier 4 PBS General Student visa as I have been granted an acceptance to an elite university in England to study my masters degree. I want to bring my partner with me but I have a few questions relating to our situation and if my partner can join me.

We have a long term relationship for 3 and 1/2 years now but we don't have any documents that can show specifically that we have been living together for more than two years. I have already received couples accomodation at the University and I was hoping to propose after my studies in UK.

I noticed on the Tier 4 PBS Dependent Form, there is a section for Martial Status and it has a choice of Single or Unmarried Partner. My first inclination is to tick Unmarried Partner but since I don't have documents showing we have been living together for more than 2 years, should I tick Single and then explain our situation in details later?

I am posting here as I imagine there must be other people that are in or had been in similar situation as myself so I am hoping to get some advice.

My partner holds a HK SAR passport.

Thank you all for your help in advance.

tick unmarried partner. your partner may not necessarily succeed in her application if you don't have evidence of cohabitation for 2 years but if you tick single and then your partner applies for a dependent visa they may question it due to your declaration of being single.
