tier 4 to tier 2

Post by taimoorkhan » Tue Apr 12, 2011 11:31 am

Hi everyone,

Im currently on tier 4 general visa, I'm doing masters of business administration and its about to complete in 3 to 4 months.

I have been working as a pre press mac operator within an English firm since Jan 2011, upon my request, organisation is willing to get a tier 2 license. They have applied for the license and hopefully will get it by the end of this week.

I have two questions about it, as I'm already employed with this employer so in this case would they need to conduct Labour Residency Test for me? (bearing in mind that I have applied this job through a popular job advertising agency)

Secondly, do I need to do IELTS? as my UK master degree is still in progress, so I don't think I can claim points for this one. But I have doubt that I could claim points for the other UK qualification, I did last year, that was my Post Graduate Diploma in Business Studies and it was awarded by ABP (Association of Business Practitioners)

Thanks for your help guys

Regards
Taimoor

well, surely you have to wait until you start PROPER work as you are still a STUDENT?

If your job requires RLMT to be done, then they will need to do it. It is waived only if you are on a psw for 6 months working for same employer OR the job is on shortage list.

you CANT be on TIER 4 and TIER 2 at the same time. This question doesnt make sense to me , to be honest with you

thank you for the reply, let me clear it again, Im planning to switch my tier 4 visa into tier 2 general category, with which I can study as well while working with the licensed employer.

Arsenal can you please review my second question now?

thanks
