Tier-2 Visa Cancellation

Post by radiostar09 » Thu May 15, 2014 1:45 pm

Hi,

I recently lost my job and as per the information leaflet I received with my tier-2 visa, I was required to cancel my visa and bio-metric resident permit by sending it back to Home Office within 28 days of loosing job. I sent my passport and BMR for visa cancellation to Home Office - Change of Circumstances Department in Sheffield on 2nd May 2014.

Its been 2 weeks now and I haven't received any confirmation mail if they have received my passport.

Is there any helpline number or customer service center through which I can follow up? And what will happen if I didn't receive my passport back withing 60 days? Am I gonna become illegal in the country after 60 days of loosing job ??

Please advice,
Syed

Are you sure you read the leaflet correctly?

You are not supposed to do send anything in if you lose your job, as far as I am aware. Your can still stay in the country for 60 days to look for a new job which would be difficult without your passport and BRP.
