Tier 1 visa living with a British guy

Post by lilylla » Sun Aug 16, 2009 8:41 pm

Hi all,

My status is as follows:

Work permit from Aug 06
Switch to Tier 1 from Mar 08 until now
I am living with a British boyfriend from Dec 08.

Does my relationship helps to speed up the process to apply for ILR at all? Since I have been in UK nearly 3 years. If I switch to unmarried visa I still have to wait another 2 years, which is the same period of time I have to go through with my Tier 1. If I decide to get married with my boyfriend then is there any difference?

Thanks for your help,

vinny

You are not eligible to switch to unmarried partners status until Dec 10.

If you marry and switch, then you also have to wait for another two years. However, there is a different set of rules for settlement that you have to satisfy.

Marriage makes difference, when it comes to Naturalisation.
