Tier1 dependent switching to Tier1

Post by india98765 » Wed Jun 09, 2010 12:41 pm

Hope you all are doing fine.

I am currently on Tier1 Partner(dependent) visa, reason we took decision to go for Tier1 visa (then HSMP) for my wife and dependent for me is we didn't had enough funds to show in our account and she had more number of points than what I had. As you all know UK goverment is putting more and more restriction to reduce the level of immigration from non-EU countries in UK, I am afraid that they might put restriction on dependent to work in uk. With current point based system I still qualify for Tier1 but to switch from Tier1 dependent to Tier1 main application I would have to go to India and apply from there. I am seeking advice on following

1)If I switch to Tier1 main application will that reset my clock for ILR?
2)Does visa rejection will anyway affect my existing dependent visa?
3) Is it worth switching considering risk and cost involved (visa fee, travelling, probably one month uk salary in worse case)
4)My understanding that I have to apply from India for Tier1 main application is correct?

-----

additionally i would like to confirm

1) I have to show any 12 month salary from last 15 month?
2) I have MCA degree, it doesn't appear in PBS calculator database as MCA but it has Masters in Computer Science/IT for my university. Can I choose that for MCA? I even have NARIC comparision for that.

Many Thanks....

Yes, as far as I know.

2)Does visa rejection will anyway affect my existing dependent visa?

No. you will still have the dependent visa.

3) Is it worth switching considering risk and cost involved (visa fee, travelling, probably one month uk salary in worse case)
right to work as Tier 1 main application.

No. Why waste money and reset clock for ILR? Tier 1 dependent has same

4)My understanding that I have to apply from India for Tier1 main application is correct?

Yes, if you want to switch visa, have to go home country.

Yes

Thats ok.. just mention that. I have my university named differently in database. Just mention it clearly.

But overall, it is waste of money to apply for Tier 1 based on reasons you have mentioned.
