Tier1 visa holder and also EEA National - how to get ILR?

Post by davgon » Thu Oct 28, 2010 5:01 pm

Hi everyone
This is my current immigration situation in the UK:

2007 - sponsored work permit
2008 - Tier1 visa (expires in 2011)
2009 - Italian Citizenship (EEA National)

I know I don't need to extend my tier-1 visa to stay legally in the UK (And I don't want to pay that money!)
However I'd like to apply to ILR in 2012. This is the time by when I'll have lived in the UK for 5 years.

My question is: Can I apply for ILR as a combination of Work Permit - Tier1 and EEA by 2012 ? Or is it better to renew my Tier1 visa for another 2 years ?

Thanks for any help .

David :)

No, you need to choose the EEA or Immigration Rules route.
I am not, and cannot, offer legal advice to particular people. I can only discuss general areas of immigration law.

People should always consider obtaining professional advice about their own particular circumstances.
